Statistical analysis report on the current situation of paper packaging in China, Japan and the United States

according to the statistics of the World Packaging Organization, the size of the world packaging market in 2002 was 417billion US dollars, and the size of the paper packaging market was 152billion US dollars, accounting for 36%, including corrugated boxes of 80billion US dollars and cardboard of 42billion US dollars. In 2004, the world packaging market increased to $459billion, and it is expected to increase to $556billion by 2009, with an average annual growth rate of 4.2%. The paper packaging market was US $176billion in 2004, has exceeded US $180billion in 2005, and will increase to US $216 billion by 2009

the output of packaging paper and paperboard plays an important role in the total output of paper in the world. In recent years, the output of packaging paper has been more than 20 million tons, the output of paperboard such as white paperboard is about 40 million tons, and the output of corrugated base paper and corrugated paperboard is even larger. The world output of corrugated base paper was 92.54 million tons in 2001, increased to 97.34 million tons in 2002, exceeded 100 million tons in 2003, and reached 111 million tons in 2004. The output of corrugated base paper, other paperboard and packaging paper accounts for about half of the total output of paper and paperboard in the world. The world corrugated board output was 120billion square meters in 1997, 125.3 billion square meters in 2000, 132 billion square meters in 2002, 142 billion square meters in 2003, 141 billion square meters in 2004 and 157 billion square meters in 2005. Among them, the corrugated board output in Asia is 59billion square meters, 43billion square meters in Europe, 42billion square meters in North America, 8.5 billion square meters in central and South America, 2.3 billion square meters in Oceania and 1.8 billion square meters in Africa

statistical report on paper packaging in China, Japan and the United States

corrugated board production in the United States, China and Japan is far ahead of other countries in the world. The output of corrugated board in the United States reached 37.7 billion square meters in 1999 and 35.3 billion square meters in 2002

China

the output of corrugated board in China has soared year after year. In the seven years from 1995 to 2002, the average annual net increase was 1 billion square meters, from more than 7 billion square meters to more than 14 billion square meters. In the three years from 2003 to 2005, the growth rate of corrugated board production in China accelerated. In 2003, it increased to 18.8 billion square meters, 21.9 billion square meters in 2004 and 25.5 billion square meters in 2005. The output of corrugated board in Japan has been more than 13billion square meters in recent years, 13.5 billion square meters in 1997 and 2000, and 13.6 billion square meters and 13.7 billion square meters in 2004 and 2005, respectively, during the period of SAIC and Ningde

Chinese paper packaging plays a very important role in the whole packaging industry. The output of paper packaging materials and containers in China has reached 13.2 million tons in 2000, which is 1.6 times that of glass packaging products, about 7 times that of metal packaging materials and containers, and 5 times that of plastic packaging materials and containers with perfect protective effects. Paper packaging materials and containers will maintain a rapid growth momentum in the future, increasing to 20million tons in 2005, 27million tons in 2010 and 36million tons in 2015. In 2005, the total output value of China's packaging industry was 401.7 billion yuan, an increase of 22.4% over the previous year. Among them, the output value of paper packaging was 149.2 billion yuan, an increase of 31.4, accounting for 37.1% of the total output value; The output value of plastic packaging is 108.2 billion yuan, accounting for 26.9% of the total output value; The output value of metal packaging is 32.6 billion yuan, accounting for 8.1%; The output value of glass packaging is 10.8 billion yuan, accounting for 2.7%

China's paper output in 2005 was 56 million tons, including 19.3 million tons of corrugated base paper, 7.9 million tons of white paperboard and 5.7 million tons of packaging paper. The total output of the three items was 32.9 million tons. China's paper consumption in 2005 was 59.3 million tons, including 21.5 million tons of corrugated base paper, 8.63 million tons of white paperboard and 5.76 million tons of packaging paper, with a total of 35.9 million tons

Japan

and may consolidate Clariant's position as one of the key acquisition targets in Europe. Japanese packaging materials and paper packaging in containers are far ahead in both output value and output. For example, in 2005, the output value of paper packaging in Japan accounted for more than 40% of the total output value, plastic accounted for only a little more than 1/4, metals accounted for less than 1/5, and glass and wood products accounted for only about 1/40. The output of paper packaging accounts for more than 60% of the total output, with plastic, metal, glass and wood products accounting for less than 1/5, less than 1/10, less than 1/14 and less than 1/30 respectively. Over the years, the output of paper and paperboard packaging products in Japan has exceeded 12million tons, more than 13million tons in 1996, 1997 and 2000, and 12.66 million tons in 2005. The output of paper packaging products has always accounted for more than half of Japan's total packaging output, such as 56.9%, 57.5% and 58.9% in 1995, 1997 and 1999 respectively, 60.1% in 2004 and 60.6% in 2005. The output value of paper and paperboard packaging materials and products reached 2.95 trillion yen in 1993, decreased to 2.3 trillion yen in 2003, and slightly increased to 2.45 trillion yen in 2005. Due to the output value of paper packaging products, some paper giants dare not purchase waste paper and pulp from overseas, accounting for more than 40% of the total output value. However, in recent years, it has decreased slightly year by year, such as 43.5% in 2000, 42.6% in 2002 and 42.2% in 2004, and 41.7% in 2005. The output value and output of paper, paperboard and paper products are the largest among all kinds of packaging materials and containers in Japan

the United States

is the same as China and Japan. The output of packaging paper and paperboard in many countries and regions in the world accounts for a large proportion of the total output. For example, in the United States, the largest paper producer, the proportion of the output of packaging and processing paper to the total output of paper and paperboard in the United States was 49.3% in 1994 and increased to 50.3% in 2004. Among them, the output of packaging and processing paper decreased from 4.9% to 4.1%, corrugated base paper increased from 30.3% to 32.7%, and paperboard for paper containers decreased from 8.8% to 8.5%. The total output of paper products in the United States in 2005 was 82.6 million tons, including 45.17 million tons of paperboard and 3.5 million tons of packaging paper. The total output of paper products in the 19 member countries of the European paper Federation (including Germany, Finland, Sweden, France, Italy and other major paper producing countries in the world) in 2005 was 99.25 million tons, including 23.78 million tons of corrugated base paper, 15.85 million tons of paperboard and packaging paper for paper containers, and 4.35 million tons of other paperboard and paper, with a total of more than 43 million tons. The total output of paper products in South Korea in Asia in 2005 was 10.55 million tons, including 5.06 million tons of paperboard (3.6 million tons of corrugated base paper, 1.07 million tons of paperboard for paper containers) and 220000 tons of packaging paper, with a total of 5.28 million tons, accounting for half of the total output. The total output of paper products in Taiwan, China in 2005 was 4.66 million tons, including 3.38 million tons of paperboard (2.5 million tons of corrugated base paper and 660000 tons of paperboard for paper machines), accounting for more than 70%
